And if you have been quietly thinking this might be the year you hand it to an accountant instead, you have even less time than that as you need an accountant to onboard you and add you to their Australian Taxation Office client list before that date.
Two deadlines, one date
For individuals who lodge themselves, the 2025-26 tax return is due October 31. This year October 31 falls on a Saturday, so under the ATO’s weekend rule, a self-lodged return is due the next business day, Monday, November 2.
