The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has reported an 80% jump in non-lodgment prosecutions of shadow economy operators, including businesses and individuals hiding income or activity to avoid tax and super obligations.

Over the past two years, the ATO has successfully prosecuted more than 350 individuals and entities, securing more than 305 convictions and $2.7 million in court-imposed fines.
