Testing Capabilities

. . .from art . . .
to part.
From concept
to reality.
Through the new Technology Center, with its specialized skills and equipment and its emphasis on testing, processing and product development, Deutsch continues to pioneer greater advances in injection molding, high-tech materials, new processes, metalworking and assembly techniques.

Now, a whole new world
of leadership in interconnections is yours. . .
A world ever more dependent on unfailing
product performance in interconnection devices is demanding the ultimate in advanced technology
. . . technology that not only assures product reliability, but also lowers costs and delivers
faster response time to customer requirements.
At Deutsch, the need for reliable, high
performance, cost effective connectors for the global market is being met in a facility unlike
any other in the world.
This unique facility is located in the growing Inland Empire of
Southern California. Its multi-disciplined staff of engineers and technicians focus on meeting
and solving the interconnection needs of customers in markets as diverse as aerospace and
construction, transportation, and agriculture.
Here designs are literally carried from
art . . . to part. From concept to reality.
Since its inception in the
1940's, the company has dedicated its facilities, assets and people to state-of-the-art
advancements in connector design and manufacturing know-how. Through the Technology Center, the
Deutsch commitment to the world’s connector
market is broader and greater than ever before.
Almost all connector manufacturers s
hare such common goals as outstanding quality, delivery and service.
What sets Deutsch apart from the others is its dedication to technology. . . its early
development of new materials and processes . . . its conviction that investment in
technology leads to innovation and advancement.
ON-SITE RAW MATERIALS AND PROCESS TEST LAB
Here Deutsch tests and evaluates new and current component raw materials. All test results are entered into Deutsch's material database where the information is maintained with graphic presentation for future reference.
Deutsch engineers, working with leading material suppliers, develop state-of-the-art materials and processes. Anticipating customer needs, every effort is made to follow and evaluate the latest developments in elastomers, plastics, abrasives, metals and marking inks. As each material or process is tested, results of the formulation are added to the Deutsch database.
ON-SITE MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING
Interfacing with materials and process engineers,
this group evaluates a
nd creates new dies,
machines, assembly equipment, tooling and manufacturing processes. Their goal
is to optimize the use of the new materials, processes and assembly techniques
for cost-effective applications in new and existing products.
INTEGRATED PRODUCT AND TOOLING MANUFACTURING DEVELOPMENT
The Deutsch CAD/CAM system uses the company's
specific database to quickly resolve issues. It
crosses all the traditional disciplines to get a
product to market. A key function of the system is
the capability of a 3D model to be completely analyzed, evaluated and even redesigned before
the tooling is ever produced. Among the system's Outstanding advantages are:
Design Optimization
3D models are used for finite element stress
analysis, fit interference tolerance analysis, and
rapid prototyping during early design phases. Concurrent wit
h product design, a CNC tool path is
generated directly to metal processing equipment.
Tooling Production
Computer- generated settings from finite element analysis allow for machine setup based
tin the 3D model
Mold and Process
Optimization
Mold flow simulation
allows pictorial viewing of plastic flow in the mold to optimize the design before
tool metal is cut.
Assembly
Floor space is reserved to develop turnkey assembly lines for each operating unit within Deutsch, with sonic welding, automated tooling and other state-of-the-art procedures blended and refined prior to production release and physical
transfer.
ON-SITE DESIGN VERIFICATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL TEST LAB
This is where the performance of completed connector designs is verified to specific sets of requirements. Design verification testing includes electrical, mechanical, EMI, RFI and environmental exposures and measurements.
ON-SITE WIRE TERMINATION PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING
Wire termination is critical to properly functioning
interconnections. Using finite element analysis,
Deutsch develops both contacts and crimp tooling.
The highest performing contacts and tooling are
designed to produce gas-tight crimps. This assures the optimum in life cycle performance.
