Viewing and Printing Tips
Your Browser.
This site is best viewed in either Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and above or
Netscape Navigator 4. Some interactive features on the site do not currently
work on browser versions earlier than Explorer 4.0 or Navigator 4.0; and they do not
work with Netscape Navigator 5 and above. If you are using Navigator 5 and
above and are interested in viewing any of our sites, we strongly suggest you
upgrade to the latest Microsoft browser. Regardless of which browser you use, both
the site map and text links at the bottom of the pages can be relied upon to assist
you in navigating through the site.
Your Screen Resolution. This site is optimized
for a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. If you have your monitor set for
other resolutions, you can expect less than desirable images on your
screen: misaligned captions, tables, and pictures. Many of the newer large
screen users often set their screens for 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 pixels. This
site will not normally display well on these screens. If you wish to view the
site at the optimum resolutions, here are the directions for changing your screen
resolution in Windows 98: (“>” means click on the last listed
item and then look for the next listed item to click on.)
-
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Display>Settings>Screen Area
- Move the sliding
scale so that 800 x 600 pixels is displayed. You should see the selections
change as you move the slider so that it displays the following
resolutions: 740 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024. Stay with the
800 x 600. You can change it back later if you wish, the same way you selected
it here. On earlier monitors, you may not get many choices. On really
early monitors, you may get no choices.
- If you have selected
a resolution that is different from your prior setting, you may get a question
about whether you want to change your setting. If you confirm that you
wish to change, your screen may go temporarily dark while the resolution is changed.
- For those who have
not updated their Windows 98 files with new patches along the way, you may have to
restart your computer. Current, updated Windows 98 users should have no
problem in changing their resolution.
If you are using a
Macintosh machine, you can probably click on the icon at the bottom of your screen
and select from a number of resolutions. Due to the variances in the way
browsers display content, some Macs may display the site better at a 1024 x 768
resolution.
Printing
. Our pages usually print beautifully on today’s printers, particularly
from Internet Explorer. Some overprinting in areas may occur if you have
your browser fonts set to “large” or “larger,” and you
may not get as much printed on a page as you would like for the same
reason. Try using a smaller browser font size. Another option is to reset
the margins for the printed page through your printer setup screen. If these
options do not work, look over other suggestions in the troubleshooter to see what else might be causing a problem.
